Expectations:
Belonging to a country with so many colors, beautiful landscapes, cultural variety, delicious food and so loving people makes your blood feel the need to share it worldwide.

When I came to the Netherlands for personal reasons (love), I learned that here the sky has another color; the way of expressing respect is through punctuality and honesty. In fact, here I learned to use an agenda!!! For this, I decided to be an active part of the Latin Association to raise awareness of our culture in this country and it does not matter that the sky is gray; Latinos always have in our blood the desire to laugh and dance!

Today I study Communication Science at UT. I feel the responsibility and the commitment to continue offering to the Latin community a place to feel at home. Furthermore, to non-Latin a space where you can learn more about Latin spirit and having fun!

"Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions" – Dalai Lama.

I'm a happy Mexican that decided to cross the big lake, called Atlantic Ocean, and make her home in the lovely & magic town of Enschede. The reason for living here is due to my Bachelor!

I'm quite passionate about vegan lifestyle and cooking. Also, I'm into sustainable development topics. Perhaps you might think I'm a kind of hippie, but I'm not, well at least not today, tomorrow, who knows... I'm keen on sharing the Latin culture through food and music, because I reckon these 2 things are the perfect formula to love, enjoy & understand our culture.

Expectations:
My personal interest to be part of LA VOZ board is because of my affection and closeness to the latin culture, which is in some way also my culture. As Spanish I feel very close to latin american people because we share a common language and we have so many similarities in our way of life. To be aware about the existence of LA VOZ was a great new when I came to UT.

Now, I am part of the new board as a treasurer. To collaborate with LA VOZ is not only a very enriching activity but also, it is a huge window to know a lot of people from different nationalities and cultures and learn so many things from them. The possibility to share our life style with an lot of different people, in order to promote our culture and our similarities to tighten up ties between everyone is for me the main reason to be part of LA VOZ.

This year the LA VOZ board agreed to make an effort by sharing our activities and try to involve a wider range of people living in Enschede and surroundings. We would like to increase the cultural ties with all the associations at UT but also, with everyone who wants to join our events as people from Saxion, ITC students or whoever who is interested in them.

I am very glad to be part of a board with lots of energy, good desires and nice ideas to approach.

We are going ahead with so many projects for this year which, I guess, it will be awesome for all of us.

From here, I encourage everyone to be part of LA VOZ and collaborate with us for improving and enjoying more all of our events!!

Andrés Marenco Zúñiga

Secretary

Nationality: Costa Rican
Background: Computer Science, Information Retrieval

Expectations:
Since many years ago, one of my main goals was to come to this side of the world to be able to get a first hand experience about the European (and the Dutch) culture. However, once I arrived to the UT, I realized how many different people from diverse countries reunites here, and how important and enlightening can be to learn about all of them.

As a part of LA VOZ, I've had the opportunity of putting my part to share about the music, the food and the culture of Costa Rica and all Latin America to many people that haven't had the chance of experience it.

I hope that you can all have a great time getting to know about us, and that you can join to all of our nice activities!

Pura Vida!

LA Voz organizes very interesting events from cultural activities to fun parties!! It has a good combination between serious and fun activities, being part of the board and help organizing these events is one of the best things I have done here.
